Mac Murray Ranch
THE LEGEND BEHIND THE WINES
Rolling hills. Treasured traditions. Breathtaking vineyards. This is
MacMurray Ranch.
At MacMurray Ranch, the wines reflect a passion for the special places that give
you extraordinary grapes. Beginning with the home vineyard in the heart of the
Russian River Valley, select grapes from the premier vineyards of Sonoma
County, the Central Coast and Willamette Valley to craft exquisite Pinot Noir,
Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
The roots in the Russian River Valley run deep. In fact, the majestic ranch has
been a homestead since the 1850s. Modern history began when actor Fred
MacMurray bought the ranch in 1941 and began raising cattle here. Today, Fred's
daughter, Kate MacMurray, is intimately involved with MacMurray Ranch, helping
us share the incredible story of our world-class wines.
Collection of Award-Winning Wines
Since the first vintage in 2000, New World Pinot Noir wines have left an
indelible impression on wine critics and discerning oenophiles. Crafted to
interpret the terroir of the most sought-after Pinot vineyards in California and
Oregon, MacMurray Ranch wines are a statement in elegance and nuance.
It's no secret they're passionate about Pinot Noir, but they're also enamored
with cool-climate Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. The white wines reflect the intense
aromatics and lush fruit flavors of the fog-laden Sonoma Coast AVA.
2010 Sonoma Coast Pinot Gris
MacMurray Ranch Sonoma Coast Pinot Gris possesses an expressive fruit-forward
character, exhibiting rich aromas of fig, white peach, and pear. These specific
flavors and aromas are able to develop based on the longer hang time and
exposure to sunlight. After six to eight months time in bottle, the brigh aromas
and complex varietal characters of citrus, fig, and spice add both weight and
interest to the wine. The flavors of peach, spicy pear and citrus meld together
in a rich core, developing a round mouth feel which complements its crisp, clean
finish.
2009 Central Coast Pinot Noir
The grapes were harvested throughout the early morning to ensure the fruit was
kept cool for fermentation, and were picked at the peak of ripeness. The grapes
were de-stemmed and cold soaked prior to fermentation for optimal extraction of
color and flavor. A percentage of the must underwent natural fermentation and
the remainder was inoculated with a mixture of yeast strains for complexity. The
wine then completed malolactic fermentation and a portion of the wine was aged
in oak barrels, contributing to the overall mouth-feel and depth of flavor.
2009 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Our 2009 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay has a rich mouthfeel with sweet aromatics.
Restrained oak contact brings caramel and vanilla flavors, but the emphasis is
on elegant ripe fruit with tropical and lemon cream notes.
Premier Sonoma Coast vineyards provided select Chardonnay grapes, harvested at
peak of ripeness. These were whole-cluster pressed to ensure a rich yield of
apple flavors and mouthfeel.
