Kenwood Winery

Jack London

Since 1976, Kenwood® Vineyards has been the exclusive producer of wines from the historic lava-terraced vineyards of the famous Jack London Ranch, located on the western slope of Sonoma Valley in Glen Ellen, California. Award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot and Syrah wines are produced from these unique red-lava soil vineyards, first planted in the late 1800’s. The dramatic wolf head logo on the bottle has created tremendous consumer interest and recognition for the wines. The wolf head was Jack London’s bookplate logo for many of his novels and is used to embellish the character of these unique wines.

Jack London Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Sauvignon thrives at Jack London Vineyards due to the optimum balance of warm morning sun and gentle cooling afternoon breezes, in combination with well-drained, deep, rich soils. The resulting wine from this Sonoma Valley appellation is complex with aromas of cassis, black tea, mint and olive combined with well-structured tannins that provide an excellent mouthfeel and a lingering finish.

Food Pairing:  The intense and elegant flavors of the 2008 Jack London Cabernet Sauvignon complement a variety of hearty entrées, including steak, lamb and roasted meats.

Jack London Merlot The Merlot vines at Jack London Vineyards benefit from careful canopy management which encourages balanced ripening to deliver desired sugar level, flavor and skin color. The pleasantly warm climate of this hillside vineyard produces a rich, full-bodied wine with delicious aromas of plum and cherry with hints of clove, vanilla, and mint.

Food Pairing:  The rich fruit flavors found in this Merlot complement a wide range of dishes, including braised beef, rich stews and pastas.

Sonoma Series

The Sonoma Series wines were the first produced at Kenwood Vineyards from 1970 onwards. The first two varietals were Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Merlot, and lastly Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Rosé were added over the years. Only top quality grapes from Sonoma County’s vineyards are used in the production of our Sonoma Series.

Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon Kenwood Vineyards’ Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon is primarily sourced from vineyards located in the Dry Creek, Sonoma and Alexander Valleys. Each vineyard lot is kept separate throughout fermentation and aging to preserve the unique flavors of the individual vineyards that are brought together for the final blend. Bright aromas of cassis, blueberry and fig are followed by savory notes of toast, bay leaf and coffee. Ripe tannins and firm acidity provide structure and length to this ripe, satisfying wine.

Food Pairing: Perfect with rich pasta dishes, lamb and steak.

Kenwood Russian River Pinot Noir The grapes for this Pinot Noir were grown in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley viticultural appellation. The Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean and serves as a channel for the cool ocean fog to move inland from the coast. Kenwood produces its Russian River blend from vineyards located off River Road where the rocky soil and the ocean’s cooling influence create the ideal conditions for growing Pinot Noir grapes. Flavorful aromas of fresh raspberries and cherries followed by subtle notes of vanilla and cola; excellent acid balance with smooth tannins and a lingering finish.

Food Pairing: This refreshing, fruity Pinot Noir is wonderfully versatile on the table and can be served with a wide range of foods, including pork, chicken, lamb and salmon.
